A Little Competition Amongst Friends

Weather: 75 and very thick.  Think Gloomy.

That feeling you get on a Q-Eve when you look at the Q schedule to see who is on tap, and you realize you have Q in the gloom!  At that moment, it’s best to start doing your research and find someone who has served up a great amount of pain recently.  Thanks to Homebrew with F3 The Fort, I felt inspired (original backblast)

As 5:15 hit, the disclaimer was given and we took off for 2 laps around the parking lot including high knees, butt kickers, carioca x2 and some Toy Soldiers (no, not imperial walkers/prison walk, Mr. Clean). COP was done in the speed fashion where each Pax lead, IC,  SSH immediately upon the halt of the previous exercise.  A great way to keep the HR up, but also get the Pax counting in cadence more and more.

  • Windmills x10 IC
    • SSH x10 IC
  • Strawberry Pickers x10 IC
    • SSH x10 IC
  • Imperial Walkers x10 IC
    • SSH x10 IC
  • LBCs x10 IC
    • SSH x10 IC
  • Merkins x10 IC

The Thang:

Teams were divided into two even teams.  11 cones were set up at the far end of the parking lot. Each cone had 2 exercises written on them, 1 under and 1 on top of the cone.  Underneath the cone also included the quantity of that exercise.  P1 would run to get the cone (plank while P1 runs) and return to unveil the exercise. No cheating and looking early, which the fog and darkness prevented anyway.  Once the entire team is done with that exercise, P2 would run to get the next cone while P1 and P3 would do the exercise on top of the cone, AMRAP.  Due to the extreme levels of humidity this gloom, the freshly written exercises on top of the cone pretty much turned into streaks of whatever, so the teams would modify with LBCs until the next cone would arrive, if necessary.  Cones were as follows:

  • 25 Lunges
  • 22 Merkins
  • 20 Freddie Mercuries
  • 30 SSH
  • 30 Flutter Kicks
  • 30 LBCs
  • 30 Moroccan Night Clubs
  • 30 Mountain Climbers
  • 25 Squats
  • Run a Lap
  • 25 Burpees (the dreaded cone)

Some of the exercises while in waiting included American Hammers, LBCs, Merkins, Monkey Humpers, Sumo Squats, and Dying Cockroaches.

Team Ripken, Backdraft and Mr. Clean won round 1 due to the fact that Six Pack graced his team with 25 burpees on his first cone grab.  Team Six Pack, Scuba and YHC won round 2 especially when Ripken joyfully snagged the burpee cone on his last team grab.  It was fun having that cone loom out in the pile the entire 2nd round.

We then mosied over to the picnic table area for 2 rounds of 15 dips and 20 step-ups each leg to complete the final moments of the beatdown.  The Pax were coming up with ideas for a complete picnic table beatdown.  I am scared to post to that one!

Moleskin: YHC discussed the role of work in a man’s life.  How it provided the comfort and means necessary for the family, but needs to be kept in context of how much time is given in the concentrica.  Your relationship with God 1st, M 2nd, 2.0s third, Friends/shield lock 4th and then Work.  Allowing work to overcome the previous 4 rings of the concentrica can prove to be detrimental to that person as a father, husband and friend.  To read more, click here:  https://f3nation.com/2018/03/18/mammon-q1-9/

Thank you for the opportunity to lead and for the great effort put forth in the competition!
