The Twelve Days of Christmas

‘Twas the night before the beatdown, and all through GroupMe, only one was an HC, Deep Dish it be. The workout had been planned and thought of with care, in hope that the full Pax all would be there. Though Bing sent a reminder post about Saturday’s Q, I quickly grabbed my phone to rally the Pax anew. So, how to encourage the Pax men, I reflected. The words that I typed were carefully selected.

                             “Make sure you store up a good amount of Christmas cheer if you’re planning on coming to Adventure Park        Tomorrow”

At precisely 7:00 YHC gave the 5 core principals and disclaimer to the 11 Pax that had shown up. Due to the fact that there was a light thunder storm happening, there was no mosey, we moved right into COP which consisted of:

-SSH (24 IC)

-Imperial Walkers (12 IC)

-Hilbilly Walkers (12 IC)

-LBC’s (24 OYO)

 

The Thang

At this point YHC explained that his oldest 2.0, Not It, has more Christmas Spirit in his small 7-year old body than the entire rest of the PAX who were present, combined. Since his first post, he had been asking if he and I could Q together. When I told him I had signed us up, his first questions was “how many days until Christmas?” With a little stretching (counting Saturday and Christmas Day) YHC and Not It realized that there would be 12 days until Christmas, hence our idea for the beatdown:

12 stations spread around Adventure Park, with exercises that are similar (in name, motion, or as close as we could get) to the item mentioned in the song at the number of reps mentioned in the song. Each station adds a new exercise, but all previous exercises must be done as well (as in the song). Then the Pax would mosey to the next station.

Unfortunately, the Pax had to stay under the pavilion for the first four “days” due to the thunderstorms. By the fifth “day” the rain had broken, so Now Bing, Now Pincher, Now Chilli Pepper, Now Deep Dish, On Olympus, On Steel, On Shamwow, LG, and  Recall, Now Dash Away, Dash Away, Dash Away All!

YHC brought the PAX together for count-o-rama and name-o-rama. At this point, Not IT talked about how great it is that all 11 people we out in the morning helping iron sharpen iron and getting their bodies better. YHC then instructed the Pax that this workout was also designed to really make the pax feel the sacrifice that the song things about, all together there are 364 items bought (or 364 exercises completed) for his true love. YHC mentioned that although most of our efforts during the Holiday season are geared towards our 2.0’s, we must not forget our M’s. They are our partners and our co-pilots in life, and we need to make an effort to shower them with love this holiday season.
