YHC arrived early and was pleased to see Ripkin, finally over his illness, already there and stretching out. Other pax continued to arrive while lights were placed on three of the tables to make the pavilion glow enough so we could almost make out the spit on the floor. At 5:15 the pax where asked what the core principles of F3 were and after some stumbling and mumbling it was apparent that although these guys were here, their minds were still in neutral. About this time we saw a set of headlights bouncing over the last speed bump and heading toward the parking lot at a speed which revealed they knew they were a little late. Sir Wallace emerged from his Jeep and we took off on a 2 lap mosey around the parking lot which included:

  • High Knees
  • Butt Kickers
  • Carioca x2
  • Nur

Circling up in the parking lot, we talked about encouragement. A new pax had mentioned to YHC that they were taken aback by some of the “rough” prompting and encouragement they received at their first beatdown. Some specifics were mentioned and it became apparent that what was going on was that long time pax had become so close that we took for granted that not everyone was familiar with how we get things done. Now while some harsh ribbing is fine among pax that are close to each other, we should be mindful of how we encourage one another in public so as to not turn new members or sad clowns off to the F3 family. Having stated all this, we performed the following to get our heart rate up a bit and stretch out:

  • 15 SSH IC
  • 10 Agitators OYO
  • 10ish Hill Billy Walkers IC (I think we only did 7 of these as I lost my rhythm.)
  • 10 Strawberry Pickers IC
  • Arm Circles – small to large, both ways OYO
  • 10 Toy Soldiers IC

Thang

At this point we headed into the pavilion where today’s routine was revealed. A sheet of paper on the middle table had a list of exercises with reps listed for them. Pax were to perform the first listed exercise for the specified reps and then run a lap around the parking lot. Once back they would perform the next exercise as listed and then run a lap. Apparently, Manziel’s board of pain has been so ingrained into these poor souls that they couldn’t comprehend the simplicity of this and several asked if they needed to start at the top of the list after each lap. Again, their minds appeared to be in neutral.

YHC told the pax that he designed this list so that he could complete it, hence pax were encouraged to make it harder should they feel it was a little too easy for them. Conversely, should one feel the exercises were too difficult, they should tone it down to their level. Here is the list we worked through:

  • 10 Burpees
  • 20 American Hammers
  • 30 Big Boy Situps
  • 40 Carolina Dry Docks
  • 50 Overhead Claps
  • 50 Salsa Dips
  • 40 Flutter Kicks
  • 30 Monkey Humpers
  • 20 Tricep Dips
  • 10 Merkins

As we progressed through the exercises it was clear that the pax were working on their encouragement methods. Shamwow showed off his finest modifications and YHC noticed that some of the pax appeared to be running double laps between exercises. Most of the group was able to finish the list and start over from the beginning. Although a few wanted to start from the bottom and work their way toward the top, YHC wanted to see more Burpees.
