The BackBlast:

Weather: 69 I think..never checked but felt great.

YHC learned last night that the lake trails at NBP are now fenced off due to construction, so the plan had to be changed.  That’s okay, it was 8p and I had the night to sleep on it.  Upon waking up at 4:15a, YHC found out that the entire AO was closed due to an event so it was time to modify AGAIN!!

5:15a hit, the cyclist were off, a number of guys were out running, training for the Skunk Ape Marathon and the rest were ready for what was described as an epic beatdown – I had to deliver.

After a short mosi, it was time for COP which included:

  • SSH x30 IC
  • Windmills x10 IC
  • Plank series
  • Mountain Climbers x20 IC
  • LBCs x10 IC
  • Pickle Pointers x10 IC

Main Dish – first up was a Banjo Bearcrawl, something we have not done in a long while.  Pax circle up, in plank position, with feet towards middle of the circle.  First pax exits the circle in bear crawl fashion, around the entire circle.  When the bear crawling pax passes you, you honor him with 1 merkin.  This. took a bit of time and pushed the pax with the number in attendance.

With no worthy hills now available, Burpback Mountain was out of the question, so we headed over to the most square area of the parking lot for a round of BOMBS.  Each lap added a set of exercises to complete the word BOMBS

  • Big Boy Situps
  • Overhead Clp
  • Merkins
  • Burpess
  • Squats

With only 8 minutes remaining, we took a mosi around the parking lot, stopping twice for 10x Carolina Dry Docks, LBCs and Squats to finish the full body beatdown.

The last minute was spent in the plank position where YHC challenged the pax to reflect on a person who has had a great influence in their life.  Not only to reflect, but reach out to that person and let them know the kind of impact they have had on their life.  This will help energize that person and help them realize their words, actions and deeds impact others.  OH, and attend the Q Source meetings on Wednesday to learn more great stuff like this!
