The BackBlast:
Pre-Job Brief: Reviewed the 5 core principles and advised the 17 hardy souls to get in last minute hydration. Sgt. Buck stayed in the barracks today, YHC instead opting for a kinder, gentler approach. Short discussion on emergency protocol – contact info (road ID is a good idea), who in the PAX has first aid/CPR training, and asked for a volunteer for Brother’s Keeper – Big Mac took on the role of watching the 6.
The Weather: It’s July in SW Florida
The Extra: Asked the PAX to think about what F3 means to them and why it motivates them to get out of the fartsack on a Saturday morning. During the beatdown, randomly asked different men to share that answer.
The Thang:
Moseyed across the field toward the Heron Preserve to go ahead get that dry shoes thing taken care of…usual high knees, butt kickers, carioca, and nur.
Circled up by the bridge and knocked out some Strawberry Pickers, SSH, and Carolina Drydocks in cadence.
Crabwalk up the bridge – at the top performed calf raises, big boys, and dips for 1 minute each – bear crawled down the other side.
For the next 45 minutes we ran as a group from one area to the next in the Heron Preserve – beautiful change of scenery but we may have scarred some local residents who observed our shenanigans….
The different stops involved:
Merkins, Mtn Climbers, Shoulder Taps – x20 in cadence
LBC’s, Flutter Kicks, American Hammers – 50 each
SSH, Imperial Walkers, Hillbilly Walkers (my apologies to the lady walking her dog through the middle of this) – 1 minute each
Short run through the scrub, then 3 different audibles by PAX choice of exercise and cadence
Overhead Claps, Moroccan Nightclubs, Small Arm Circles – 100 each
Squats, Lunges, Gorilla Humpers – x20 in cadence
Summary: Good workout, but even better getting to hear why F3 is important to the various members of the PAX. Some very powerful statements made but the one that sticks is that F3 is welcoming of all men regardless of race, culture, creed, beliefs, physical ability, or age. This is our strength and why we are growing at such a phenomenal rate.
