The BackBlast:
Friday at NBP featured a starry night and sticky conditions. The air was thick with humidity and anticipation. Beowulf could not be more likely, given the aura. Alas the hour struck 5:15.
Recently, it was brought to the Pax attention that the “locker room talk” (LRT) may have gotten a bit out of hand. YHC concurs and is guilty as charged. LRT can consist of profanity, vulgar talk, potty humor, sarcasm and shaming. While Mumble Chatter is meant to be a release for us men for some LRT, it also needs to reigned in at times. It also needs to be mixed in the right proportions with exoneration, encouragement and grace…a 2-1 or 3-1 ratio is best. Three “Attaboys” for every one, “hey douchebag” comments.
It was decided that to carry on this message throughout the beatdown, we should “Get Up” out of our funk, act like leaders and while still having fun, realize that we could probably clean up our act and encourage others better. Jesus only said “Get Up” a few times in the Gospels. When he did, big things happened, and it paid to listen to Him. Whether it was Lazarus that he raised, the protitute about to be stoned or the man at the pool looking for healing. He told them all to “Get Up,” and their lives were never the same after having followed His command. Let’s follow His lead and let the big things continue to happen to our F3 community.
After the 5 core principles, we did a lap for the mozy, we headed to the tower. We had pre-clearance to share the tower from Willy, the Camp Gladiator coach. A little introduction and discussion with him went a long way to make the tower a continued option for us.
The Thang…
We did 3 sets with a partner while listening to a playlist from MTV Spring Break 1992 featuring Marky Mark and friends. Ah the memories (mammories?, oops more LRT), but I digress.
Partner to level 2, Partner 2 to level 3, Partner 1 to live 4, Partner 2 to level 5. Each level had a set of Get Ups before returning down.
Set 1 – While the partner was climbing, the one in the parking lot did 10 Merkins and 10 toe taps until climber returned.
Set 2 – While the partner was climbing, the other did 10 LBCs and 10 Tricep Dips.
Set 3 – T squats, Imperial Walker holds
Set 4 was a sprint down the road.
We ended with a Jailbreak to COT at the top.
Announcements: Everyone, whether doing GrowRuck or not, should attend the Friday 14th dinner. Sniper on Q for cooking! Everyone should also attend the big workout on Saturday at AP. We still need people to support the GrowRuck via the Sag Wagon. See Stagecoach if interested.
Prayers for Pan-Am in Cleveland that had a brain aneurysm during a beatdown. In ICU but expected to recover. Prayers for Lylia’s family as she lost her battle after falling in the pool.
Praises for Ripken’s father’s surgery that went well. Praises for the Pax that are really stepping up their leadership and reaching out to others to stay connected.
Thanks for the opportunity to lead. Love the Shield Lock you all provide for me. Ripken out.
