The BackBlast:

It’s pretty neat driving west on University at 0425 and seeing other cars with bikes attached….the mind immediate wonders if those crazy people are going to the same place you are going.  Today the answer was yes…..also of note is that Pincher drives his white Audi SUV as fast as he pedals his Specialized bike.

YHC noticed yesterday that the cycling Q was open so he figured he would pick up the Q seeing that he needed to cycle anyways….what he didn’t know was that there were 9 others who wanted to cycle too. Knowing that YHC was looking to cover 20 miles this morning he notified the other PAX that EC would begin at 0445. Again, to his surprise 8 of the 9 other PAX also were looking for EC this gloom.

YHC told the PAX that today we would be circling the lake at NBP until 0550……YHC’s mistake this gloom was not setting parameters around the speed at which we would be circling the lake.  The PAX was going so fast even Bing had trouble keeping up with the # of PAX insisting that there were 13 total…..:)

As the 9 PAX headed out at 0445 it became abundantly clear that we were in for a pedalfest with the average speed for the first to laps eclipsing 22mph’s.

At 0515 we returned to the parking lot and picked up Fireball.  YHC tried to restore order to the group by suggesting that heading south on cattleman the speed range between 18-22 mph and then heading north on the return the speed average approximately 24mph due to the tailwind.   YHC found out quickly that it was too late and the PAX were full of speed and determination this morning.

The mileage for the EC PAX ranged from 20-31.6 total miles, Gridlock and Defib started even earlier than 0445, and I’m guessing Fireball had approximately 15 miles seeing that he was with the lead pack for the final 45 minutes.

Thanks for coming out this gloom Brothers……
