75 and humid…..

YHC arrived at 0500 to find the entrance to the parking lot partially blocked by a motor vehicle and observed Goob walking away from the automobile……YHC checked in with Goob and learned that the driver of the car had run out of gas.  Goob being the HIM that he is had offered assistance to jump the battery but once he learned that the car was out of gas he was making his way back to his car.

Goob and Crabcakes then decided to do a walking loop of the parking lot to help loosen up the legs in preparation for the ensuing run.

Cars, trucks and a jeep slowly pulled into the parking all having to avoid Mr. No Petroleum on their way in.  Many of the PAX were surprised to see Pincher arrive solo….not sure if it was the fact that Bing wasn’t with him or that he actually knew how to drive to Fort Hamer without his typical Thursday morning chauffeur.

At 0515 the 7 PAX departed the parking lot…..some asked about the plan YHC said that the plan would be shared at the appropriate time.

After a mile warm up the PAX gathered at the fountain and YHC revealed the plan for the day….

.37 mile speedwork repeats.  Run .37 as fast as you can from the fountain to the stop sign…….then turn around and recover for the .37 back to the fountain.  Rinse and Repeat.  Try to make your last run your fastest run….

YHC shared that in order to get faster we need to push ourselves out of comfort zones and mix up our runs…..we can’t always come out and do the same pace, same distance, and same route.  Today was time to disrupt the status quo….

PAX offered encouragement to each other as they passed by one another…..and utilized the recovery time for Fellowship.

PAX all returned to the parking lot just prior to 0600 and continued running until 0600.
