The BackBlast:
Weather- not terrible at 47 degrees and no wind
At 5:13am, YHC rolled up to see a small group huddled together deep in banter. By 5:14, a couple of more stragglers were rolling in and YHC noticed we had a down range guest, HatTrick, from Columbus joining us. At 5:15, YHC started spouting out the 5 core principles and then went through the unwritten rule of, “if you can’t do it, don’t Q it…… unless you are less than 48 hours post marathon and your legs are barely functioning and thus can barely walk.” No one seemed to have a problem with it so we moved on to the mosey.
We mosied to the base of the tower at approximately a 16 minute a mile pace. Fortunately, it was only about a 100 yds away so not to much time was lost. Goob quickly commenced to warmup which included 10 SSH and 10 Imperial Walkers in cadence, leg stretching, 12 agitators OYO, arm circles backwards and forwards, and 10 Michael Phelps OYO. Somewhere during that sequence, Snail emerged and made his long awaited return to the group. Awesome. He was good to see.
YHC then unveiled the long awaited, much anticipated (by no one) THANG. It was to be a continuation of sorts from last Tuesday’s simple but not easy beating. No one complained. I think mostly because only 2 or 3 had experienced it the week before.
The THANG:
- 800m run -OR- 1 Tower run
- 100 merkins, 100 squats, 100 big boys
- 800m run -OR- 1 Tower run
- 50 shoulder taps, 50 monkey humpers, 50 mountain climbers
- 800m run -OR- 1 Tower run
- 25 dry docks, 25 calf raises, 25 dead bugs
- 800m run -OR- 1 Tower run
- 25 dry docks, 25 high knees, 25 Parker Peters
YHC hobbled through one 800m run and the PAX graciously allowed for modification (see title) of planking and/or tricep dips. Otherwise, everyone completed the beat down as time expired. At 6am, we circled up. As mentioned it was great to have a DR guest and the return of Snail.
