If this was Sesame Street, today’s backblast would be brought to you by the number 3:44 and the letter V. But it’s not, luckily.
Bing thought that it would be a good idea to sign up the guy with the slowest bike to Q the biking AO. As flawed as that logic is, it was even better due to the fact that it was on December 1, which, as we all learned at Ragnar last year, can get cold, at least by our standards (as my hometown gets buried under a foot of snow). So the night before, pax started bailing on this morning’s ride, probably fearing frostbite or some other undesirable condition. But Pincher and YHC did show up at 0600, and it was off on our rides. The bright side of the low turnout was that this was the first time in months that the count-o-rama didn’t get screwed up. YHC went down Lorraine, turned left on Masters and did the loop up Bourneside before returning, for a total of about 15 miles. Pincher went all the way down Lorraine to Fruitville and back, with brief junkets up Masters and Greenbrook, getting in a little over 16 miles (at least that’s what Strava said).
Once we got underway, the weather wasn’t bad at all, except the wind coming out of the north was stiffer than my…well let’s just say it was stiff. And besides, it was 0600 and I’m over 40. Am I out of jokes yet? Yes? Good.
If nothing else was accomplished today, the cycling slack channel was pretty intriguing.
