The BackBlast:
Open Q one day prior, so YHC grabbed it with a plan to attack some virgin (to most F3 Suncoast cycling pax) sprint segments inside the Country Club loop.
EC boys Cottontail, Crabcakes and Ripken arrived just before 6AM with about 20 miles in their pockets. Crabcakes was done @ 6. No Pincher – this the 2nd consecutive cycling Q by YHC missed by Pincher – starting to get a complex here…. Valid excuse – early fishin’ with the 2.0.
Announcements: VMA bootcamp this week Mon-WED.
Prayers: Crabcakes MIL situation. Mighty Mouse 14YO 2.0.
THE THANG: YHC LOVES the Country Club loop, so it was announced that the cycling pax would run the 4.75M Country Club loop once, then hit 2 short sprints inside the loop in front of the clubhouse.
Frankly, energy was low this gloom, and the 3 huffed and puffed to a sub-standard 18.4mph Country Club Loop segment. YHC dragged Cottontail and Ripken to the 2 sprint loops and attacked them with vigor. Mt Dora is a very short 0.20M segment north turning east with a slight uphill and then downhill, and Legacy Hill is a longer 0.44M segment on the same street westbound and up the clubhouse hill. PR’s for all 3 on both segments, mainly because 2 of the pax had never been on either segment (and you can ask them about their effort, or lack thereof). YHC now holds the 6th best overall on Legacy Hill, and #1 for the 55-64 male category (everybody gets a trophy, right?). Either way, Pincher can’t take that from YHC for 14 years! Ha!
Pax bagged it after one effort on these sprints and headed out. Energy was so low, YHC was concerned about the pax making it back to Wawa.
There are 2 speed indicator signs on the way out of the loop; YHC registered 27mph. Hey – I’m just tellin’ ya what the sign said. (Another reason to love this route.)
Back north on LWR Blvd; YHC headed back home to the west side, and Cottontail & Rip returned to Wawa without incident.
SUMMARY: Love this loop! Thanks for hangin’ with THE Q. Please bring more energy next time.
