Another glorious day on the bay! So glad to be in St. Pete for many reasons, but before I moved here in June 2019, I posted in 8 winters 3-4 times a week with 2-3 layers of clothes plus hat and winter gloves in Charlotte and Winston-Salem. Common to workout in 28-35 degrees of gray gloom several time a week. Blessed to now have the layers donated or in storage: typical Saturday non-gloom of 75 and sunny day… only have one layer year round!
We welcomed Grappler back (he also posted Wednesday at The Pier) who is on vacay at SPB this week from Charlottesville Va pax. Glad to have you again…hope to see you back next winter!

BIRD HOLE ROUND:
COP: Mosey to Hookers Pier for SSH, mountain climbers, Abe Vigodas, Imperial Walkers, Running With Scissors (with added bonus of butt kicks and high knees) and also a new invention of YHC in lieu of the Moroccan Nightclub: The Phelps Medley (standing with arm movements swimming freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke; 15 each)
To Volley Beach for dips, step ups or jump ups (pax choice) and inclines on beach seawall.
Head to path to The Tropics to get low with inchworms, bear crawls and frog jumps. The mosey to Trop Triangle for a push-a-rama with each pax choosing a merkin: dive bombers, Carolina Drydocks, diamonds, WMD’s, and shoulder taps. Added a few squats and knee jumps to break the monotony. Moved to nearby benches for some more dips.
Team mosey to next station via Heartbreak Ridge (Indian Run modified with each pax running two circles around line of moseying pax; hands raised). One round and repeato.
On sidewalk, partner up. One pax partner runs 50 yards to the Y on the bay while other does star jacks, plank jacks and shoulder taps. Two rounds.
SMUDGE ROUND
Run back to AO start for hydration, and then to the beach (somewhat eroded from Eta unfortunately) for a series of pain:
- Bear crawl 50 yards and crab walk back
- Lunges ups for 50 years and run back
- Partner up for 100 Carolina Drydocks and 100 swing kicks; other partner runs, sideways, skips and Cariocas to the 50 yards until all 100 are done.
- Time for some Mary, with each pax picking on-your-back pain: LBC’s, Freddie Mercs, Penguin (regular, plus and cross), J Lo’s and more.
- Balls-To-The-Seawall action for walking merkins (ouch).
- And since Smudge does not like YHC, he added some desert with 10 burpees while the partner runs the 50 yards again.
COT: Name-a-rama, Count-a-rama, announcements and prayers. Smudge offered Thanksgiving Day workout special of 1694 (over 1694 exercises for your pleasure!). We are also unofficially working out Mondays going inland to Northwest Park (5:30)…won’t make out official until our numbers grow some so we don’t get diluted. But exciting to think of our 3rd AO!
Prayers asked for Honduras from El Cap (spent 14 years there) due to yet another hurricane on the way. Prayers for Grappler and Tinker Toy for great travels.
Coffee fellowship on site as always with great Honduran coffee brought by El Cap.
